Afzal hanging: Syed Geelani calls for 3-day shutdown

Srinagar, Feb 9: Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday called for a three-day shutdown against the hanging of Afzal Guru at Tihar Jail in New Delhi. He said Guru's hanging is a "murder of democracy" and "imposing curfew is against the basic principles of democracy."

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Maqbool Bhat was also hanged inside Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984, and he was buried inside the jail premises.
