'Afzal Guru did not get fair trial'

in the Kashmir Valley after he was hanged in Tihar Jail on Saturday morning. All sensitive areas near Sopore had also been sealed and the army was put on high alert. Guru was executed in Tihar Jail after his mercy petition filed by his wife was rejected by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, recently.

Security was tightened in New Delhi in the wake of Guru's hanging. All the city police stations were put on high alert and additional forces were deployed in the minority-dominated areas across the city, police sources said.

Meanwhile, SAR Gilani, another accused in the Parliament attack case who was later acquitted, said Guru never got a fair trial. According to him, whatever was done was extra-judicial and his wife was also not informed.
