Chennai, Jan 31: There are reports that fans of actor-director Kamal Haasan might be organising candlelight demonstrations across Chennai on Thursday, Jan 31 to express protest against ban on his film Vishwaroopam.

In order to protect its citizens residing in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu from any untoward incidents, US Consulate has come up with a security advisory.

Below is the Security Advisory released by US Consulate

The U.S. Consulate has seen several tweets on social media announcing a possible candlelight vigil by supporters of the Tamil film "Vishwaroopam" planned tonight between 6 and 8 p.m. at Marina Beach in Chennai. Given reports of recent protests over the film, U.S. citizens are encouraged to be vigilant if travelling in this area and, in general, avoid large demonstrations.

Please avoid the areas where demonstrations are occurring and exercise caution if within the vicinity of any large gatherings. Please stay current with media coverage of local events, be aware of your surroundings, and practice personal security awareness at all times.
