Join online campaign on re-issuance of non-immigrant US visa

Washington, Jan 30: Members of the H-1B professional community in coordination with Law Offices of Rajiv S Khanna, have started a campaign on re-issuance of

visas (including work visas like H-1 and O-1,

like F-1, and family visas) from within the

. The signature campaign requests President

's administration to revive the guidelines on this non-immigrant visa issue.

The unnecessary requirement of travelling abroad for visa re-stamping can be easily and safely eliminated. This would provide relief and certainty of reentry into the US after international travel and be beneficial to US employers, the economy and H-1B holders.

The practice of re-issuance of non-immigrant visa within the United States was well established until it was discontinued by the Department of State in 2004.

The petition seeks to highlight the futility of a beneficiary, already on a non-immigrant visa, being required to travel abroad for re-issuance of the same, even though the two principal concerns for its discontinuance, "increased interview requirements" and "collection of biometric identifiers," have been met.

To successfully invoke the administration to review the current policy and forward it to policy experts within the administration for an official response, the petition requires hundred thousand (100,000) online signatures on or before Feb 23, 2013.
