RSS-terror links: Home Ministry backs Shinde with proofs

RSS
New Delhi, Jan 22: Igniting the controversy over Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's remark on RSS and its alleged link with terrorism, Home Secretary RK Singh on Tuesday, Jan 22 claimed that they have evidence to support the minister.

According to Mr Singh, the intelligence agencies of the country had the names of at least ten persons who were associated with RSS as well as involved in Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid and Dargah Sharif blasts.

Attending an AICC meeting in Jaipur, Shinde recently was quoted as saying, One on hand we are trying to bring peace in this country. We are also taking steps against injustice to minorities as also against infiltration."

"But, in the midst of all this, we have got an investigation report that be it the RSS or BJP, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. We are keeping a strict vigil on all this. We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert," added the home ministry.

Shinde's sensational remark stoked a controversy nationwide. Opposition parties, especially BJP demanded that Shinde should be sacked immediately.

However, foreign minister Salman Khurshid too supported Shinde's remark saying, "Our stated position is fully shared by the Home Minister. His statements are based on facts."

"We should not be distracted by a phrase here and there. Terror does not have a religion. It should not have a colour. Those are the facts available to the home ministry," added Khurshid.
