Haryana ex-CM Chautala arrested in recruitment scam
A court in New Delhi convicted all the accused of illegally recruiting over 3000 teachers in the state during Chautala's tenure as Chief Minister of Haryana.
All the accused have been taken into custody and the court will sentence the convicts on Jan 22.
The CBI had on Jun 6, 2008 chargesheeted the Chautalas and others in connection with the scam relating to appointment of 3,206 junior basic teachers in the state during 1999-2000.
Earlier, it was alleged that Rs 3-4 lakh were paid as a bribe for selection of each candidate.
Om Prakash Chautala and his son and others are held guilty of offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
The special CBI court had on Dec 17, 2012 reserved its order and asked all the accused persons to appear before court on Jan 16.
