Abu Azmi's son ditches him, disagrees with his sexist remarks

Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi on Tuesday, Jan 8 said women should not go out with men other than relatives and agreed with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's view that most rapes take place in cities and not villages.
However, Azmi's son strongly disagreed with his father's views.
"For the first time, I felt the person making those statements is not my dad," said Farhan Azmi, son of Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi.
Farhan also has apologised for his father's sexist comments and said that he is not a supporter of RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat and self-styled godman Asaram Bapu.
"Women should not venture out with men who are not relatives," Azmi, a member of Maharashtra Assembly, said.
"What is the need for roaming at night with men who are not relatives? This should be stopped," he said.
"Such incidents (like the Delhi gang rape) happen due to influence of western culture," Azmi said.
Earlier, RSS supremo in a public forum in Silchar, Assam, said that rapes happen in India and not Bharat.
Asaram landed in controversy following his statement where he blamed the 23-year-old paramedical student who was sexually assaulted by six men in Delhi on Dec 16. The "godman" also claimed that the six accused should not face harsher punishment such as "capital punishment".
