Major fire in Kolkata Barabazar, 24 fire brigades rushed

Kolkata, Jan 3: A major fire broke out at Barabazar in Kolkata, West Bengal on Thursday, Jan 3. 24 fire engines rushed to the spot. No casualties have been reported yet.

One shop of a clothes godown at Jagannath Ghat caught fire around 8:30 am and soon the fire spread to three other floors of the building, informed fire brigade officials.

The officials faced tremendous difficulties to douse the fire completely when a part of godown building collapsed. Fire engine officials' works also were hampered as the building was located in a congested lane.

The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet. However, this was not the first time when Kolkata Barabazar witnessed such massive fire accident. Another major fire accident was reported at Kolkata Barabazar on Jul 8, 2012.

Earlier the major fire broke out on the second floor of a four-storey building housing which was a textile godown at Jamunalal Bazar Street.
