is demanding the head of her Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar? The reason could be more than just symbolic. The commissioner should be removed as his force unleashed terror on peaceful protesters at India Gate. This may be one reason but the deeper reason is sinister, and smacks of conspiracy to fix the current agitation of the anguished young.

Three top police officers tried to intimidate a magistrate, who was recording the statement of the rape victim. This attempt is about subverting the system and fixing the rape case.

The commissioner's top officials may be trying to doctor the evidence in the case and this is very clear from their behaviour in the Safadarjung Hospital's ICU ward. The statement of the victim is crucial for the case and if the court finds any discrepancies in the process of recording of the statement the whole case can fall. Judicial officials fear that this incident could jeopardize the case.

According to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Usha Chaturvedi's complaint filed on Saturday says that when she reached Safdarjung Hospital ICU, three police officers DCP (South), ACP (Vasant Vihar) and ACP (Defence Colony) were already in the ICU when she went to the hospital. They asked her to record the statement of the victim as per the questionnaire prepared by them.

When she refused to record the statement as per the police officers 'convenience' they misbehaved with the SDM and tried to intimidate the SDM, who is a judicial officer.

The SDM has said that she could record the statement only after the police officers were evicted from the ICU.

An angry chief minister has ordered for an inquiry into the matter also written a letter to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde demanding high level inquiry into the misbehaviour and intimidation of a magistrate.

Delhi police, who have been facing tremendous pressure since the news of the gang-rape busted, have landed in a major trouble with the SDM's written complaint.

This kind of interference surely calls for the head of the Delhi police and Dixit is justified in demanding his removal.

Even Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna should be removed for supporting Neeraj Kumar and making light of Dixit's demand.

On Monday, Khanna, who is the administrative head of Delhi Police, rejected the demand for removal of the police commissioner. Khanna said there was no need for removal of the officer and praised him for his expertise and experience.

When specifically asked about Sheila Dikshit's demand, Khanna took a dig at her saying: "One is just trying to make cosmetic..(demands). Do this, do that. This is like Alice in Wonderland off with the hat." "Remove this man, remove that man. What will it lead to? Will we be able to rewind anything by doing that? We will do our best professionally," Khanna, who is not known to have best of relations with Dikshit, said.
