'Accumulated anger against govt's failure led to outrage'
New Delhi, Dec 25: The BJP on Tuesday said "accumulated anger" of the people over the government's failure to ensure law and order over a period of time is the reason for the outrage and protests here and in other parts of the country. "Whatever has been happening in the capital is due to the accumulation of anger of people over the law and order situation here. It is not just because of this particular incident (of gangrape)," BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said here.
He was addressing a rally dedicated to the rape victim on the 88th birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Naidu alleged that people were losing faith in the Parliamentary system due to the policies and attitude of the Congress-led UPA government.

"The government is ignoring the Parliamentary system... During the Winter Session also, we had raised the issue of gangrape. Seven days after the session is over, the Prime Minister has come out with a statement," he said. The BJP leader said the government rejected his party's demand to either call a special session of Parliament to discuss issues related to women's safety or an all-party meeting to assure the people that the political system was working for them.
"Last night, we met President Pranab Mukherjee. He assured us that he will talk to the Prime Minister on the issue," Naidu said. Addressing the gathering, BJP President Nitin Gadkari said the party should work towards creating a system where "no goon should dare to look towards women in the society". On the 88th birthday of Vajpayee, which is celebrated by the BJP as 'Good Governance Day', Gadkari came out with the list of achievements of BJP-ruled states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.
