Russian President Putin arrives in India
Besides trade, investment and energy, the situation in Afghanistan will also be discussed by the two countries, sources in India's External Affairs Ministry said.
The defence deal will focus on supply of over 40 Sukhoi fighter jets and 50 helicopters to India by Russia, diplomatic sources said. The deal is worth about 7 billion dollars.
Putin is set to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
