Karnataka BJP chief, deputy CM raided; booty recovered
Citing a complaint by advocate B Vinod, the Lokayukta court of Shimoga directed the police to raid the BJP chief of the state. The advocate had accused Eshwarappa of accumulating properties through corrupt means.
An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Eshwarappa, his son KE Kantesh and daughter-in-law Shalini.
Eshwarappa, who has been touring the north Karnataka, earlier had welcomed the raids saying, "truths would come out".
Now, fearing arrest, Eshwarappa and family have applied for anticipatory bail and hearing on the same would start from Dec 27.
Eshwarappa, the latest BJP leader in the state facing fresh corruption charges, refused to bow to Congress pressure of resigning from his post.
