Devastated Gujarat Congress chief 'quits' on twitter

Ahmedabad, Dec 20: The

leadership in Gujarat is defeated and devastated. The complete loss of the future and hope became very clear when India gets to see the resignation of Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia on twitter.com.

His tweet was - @arjunmodhwadia "I accept voters' verdict and take responsibility of the results. I tender my resignation from d post of GPCC president."

Now, this is unprecedented and goes against the tradition of the Congress culture. Till the high command tells, a Congress leader can never express any opinion or take decisions. So, quitting on twitter is a bold step for a Congress leader. He may have sent his resignation letter to the party but going on social media is unusual.

The entire top leadership of Congress has failed to manage entry into the assembly. Apart from Modhwadia, Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil lost from Bhavnagar rural and late chief minister Chimanbahi Patel's son Siddarth Patel tasted defeat in Dabhoi in Vadodara.

The Congress may not retain even the number of seats it had in the last assembly. There were some brave words from the central leaders like Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal and Manish Tiwari. Finance Minister P Chidambaram claimed that the party was able to contain Chief Minister Narendra Modi (his comments came early in the noon) and Telecom Minister Sibal made fun of Modi's 3D campaign and said the 3D campaign has produced 2D result.

And the comment of Information and Broadcasting Minister Tiwari borders on the sycophancy. He said there were 12-13 places where Rahul Gandhi held rallies. There the Congress has won!
