Maninagar War: With how many votes Modi will defeat Shweta?

Ahmedabad, Dec 17: The entire nation is awaiting to see how voters will vote in Maninagar constituency during the second phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2012. The second phase of voting is scheduled on Monday, Dec 17. Chief Minister Narendra Modi is contesting his election from Maninagar. His main opponent is Congress's Shweta Bhatt. Now, the question is with how many votes Modi will defeat Shweta?

Earlier, Modi had won Maninagar two times by defeating his opponents with huge margins of 75,333 votes in 2002 and 87,161 votes in 2007. The BJP camp is confident that Modi will have a cakewalk against first timer Shweta, wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt.

Voting for the second phase will begin in few minutes from now. The first phase of Gujarat polls was scheduled on Dec 13. The results will be declared on Dec 20. The second phase will see the northern, central and southern parts of the state going to the elections and compared to Saurashtra-Kutch region, Modi is set to witness an easier challenge. Elections will be held in 95 constituencies during the second phase of elections.

Political analysts feel that Congress has done a disservice by fielding anti-Modi cop Sanjeev's wife Shweta to fight against Modi. "Congress seems to have nobody who is as strong and powerful as Narendra Modi. So, they thought of fielding Shweta, whose husband is fighting a battle against Modi. But, with no political acumen, it will be hard for Shweta to win against Modi," said a senior journalist.
