Cauvery Row: K'taka leader makes sexist remark against Jaya
"She is most unreasonable, probably because she is unmarried," Siddaramaiah said during a discussion on the Cauvery water issue in the Legislative Assembly.
"Jayalalithaa is most unreasonable. Whenever she is in power, we face the problem. She should have understood our problems too. We are facing a drought for the last two years. But the State government is giving an impression that it is making preparations to release water. However, Karunanidhi was reasonable," he added.
Supporting Siddaramaiah, CS Puttaraju (JD-S) added that though Jayalalitha had been born in Melkote of Mandya district she had never visited the town after leaving there.
Karnataka on Thursday night, Dec 6 began releasing Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu from the Krishna Raja Sagar Reservoir as per Supreme Court directive. Irrigation Department sources said four crush gates of the reservoir have been opened for releasing water. The current water level at the reservoir stood at 9.08 ft as against its full level of 124 ft, they said.
The apex court had on Wednesday, in an interim order, directed Karnataka to release 10,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu and asked the Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC) to hold its meeting to decide the amount of water required by the states.
Now, it is to be seen how Jayalalithaa replies back to her detractor?
