Priyanka Gandhi makes Sonia, Cong proud, to donate organs

Priyanka, wife of business tycoon Robert Vadra, and CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat were among those 500 celebrities who pledged to donate their organs at an event organised by Delhi Hospital on Wednesday, Dec 5.
40-year-old Priyanka failed to attend the event organised by The Deceased Organ donation Network and Transplant Education (DONATE). However, she expressed her decision by sending a message saying, "You are welcome to announce my name as a donor if it helps the cause."
Meanwhile, Brinda Karat, associating herself with the cause, said, "I am totally supporting this cause of organ donation." SGRH launched the donation programme in Delhi.
Chairman, board of management SGRH, Dr RS Rana informed that the rate of organ donation in India is less i.e., 0.8/million whereas it is 17/million and 35/million in UK and Spain, respectively.
Priyanka's decision of donating organs may heal the owes of the Congress which has been under pressure since several corruption charges have been hurled against its party ministers and leaders. Beginning from Sonia to Rahul and Robert Vadra to Priyanka, all have faced stern criticism over their alleged involvement in several scams, irregularities. Now, ahead of the crucial Gujarat Assembly elections, Priyanka's latest move may help the party to regain its lost image.
Experts and critics also believe that Priyanka can become a strong contendant if she joins politics. Priyanka had accompanied her brother Rahul during Uttar Pradesh assembly election in 2011. Later, she joined her mother while the latter visited Amethi, Rae Bareli to woo the people of their constituencies. Now, with Priyanka's announcement, here remains the question - Is it her first move towards politics after being activated in social cause?
