BSP, SP walkout before FDI vote in LS
New Delhi, Dec 5: Samajwadi Party and BSP members staged a walk out of the Lok Sabha minutes before the crucial vote on foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail.
With SP's 22 members and the Bajuhan Samaj Party's 21 members out of the equation, it seems the UPA government will survive the test on the floor of the House as the halfway mark has now been reduced to 251.
"We are boycotting this debate. The decision was taken collectively by the party and is the best that we could come up with," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav told newspersons who were waiting outside the Parliament.
Accusing the government of insulting the owners of small shops, he added, "FDI will have a negative impact on farmers."
