Kasab hanged: Vaishno Devi, Karnataka on high terror alert
Intelligence Bureau (IB) alerted all concerned officials who have beefed up security at the targetted regions. The officials claimed that they would not take any chance.
According to sources, a hotelier AH Bhatt received a mail from LeT which claimed to blow up Vaishno Devi and several parts of Karnataka in order to show their rage over death of lone survival gunman of Mumbai terror attacks.
The police officials, who seized the computer system where threatening mails were sent, said, Investigation is going on...We cannot rule out either of the two angles to it, one hoax, the other threat from the terror outfit."
The investigative officials also said, "We cannot deliberate on the issue further since preliminary investigation into the matter is going on."
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and home minister, R Ashoka said, "There is threat of a terror attack in the state to avenge Ajmal Kasab's execution."
"Though central intelligence agencies have not issued an alert, government is not dismissing such a possibility. We have deployed over 3,000 security-men at vital installations in the state," added Mr Ashoka.
The deputy CM also informed that Karnataka would hand over 15 arrested terror suspects to Delhi if the central government asks for it. Recently, many terror suspects, who are connected with LeT and HUJI, have been arrested in the state.
