Cannons, cannon balls of Tipu era found in Bangalore
Bangalore, Nov 23: Workers of Namma Metro on Thursday found a couple of iron cannons and cannon balls from underneath the soil during the construction near Victoria Hospital here. While a set of cannon and cannon ball was found in the morning, the second set was found in the evening.

The cannons, which dated back to the era of Tipu Sultan, measure 12 feet in length while the cannon balls weighed 10 kg. They were buried four metres under the ground, the workers said.
The spot is not far from the summer palace of Tipu Sultan and the cannons were probably installed in the sprawling courtyard of the palace.
TM Keshav, deputy superintendent of Archaeological Survey of India, Bangalore, later examined the canons.
