In Pics: How Chhath Puja celebration turns into a tragedy

Patna, Nov 20: Hours after the tragic death of many worshippers during a stampede at Adalatghat on the bank of the Ganga in Patna, family members of the victims accused the management of not making proper arrangements for Chhath Puja.

The stampede occurred when panicked devotees rushed for safety after a make-shift bridge caved in at the ghat

After receiving the news over this tragic incident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar cancelled all his programmes which were scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 20.

Condoling the deaths of the worshippers, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "My wishes for Chhat Pooja to all ... however am deeply grieved to hear of the stampede in Patna for the Pooja and the deaths of many."
