Rape accused woman athlete Pinki is male, confirms test rpt

, Nov 12: Months after getting bail, Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik once again made headlines as medical test report confirmed that Pinki is a male.

Pinki, who had participated in several sports events in women categories, was accused by his girlfriend Anamika of being a man and of raping her. Test report confirmed that Pinki is a male and is able to do intercourse.

Kolkata police on Monday, Nov 12 filed charge-sheet against Pinki who earlier was arrested in Jun 2012. The accused also had hogged the limelight after a 29-second MMS clip of Pinki undergoing a gender determination test in a private hospital went viral.

The clip showed Pinki in an unclothed state undergoing the test. A PIL was moved in the Calcutta High Court on Jul 6 after the MMS was leaked.

Pinki was granted bail after 25 days. She was arrested on Jun 24 following allegations of rape levelled against her by her live-in partner.

The middle distance runner, who won one silver medal and five gold medals between 2005 and 2006, retired in 2007. According to reports, due to her 'excessive male hormones', Pinki was not allowed in a Madurai national meet.
