It was also the most retweeted photo ever. The photo has been retweeted 7,74,076 times and 'favourited' 2,73,085 times at the time of writing this report. The last time a photo was this popular, it was Justin Bieber paying tribute to a fan who died of brain cancer.

Obama's retweets crushed the previous record holder Justin Bieber's 2,23,401 retweets.

After winning the election by defeating Republican rival Mitt Romney, Obama addressed the nation. He made an impassioned victory speech saying "Michelle, I have never loved you more. I have never been prouder to watch the rest of America fall in love with you, too".

Obama told cheering supporters early on Wednesday that "the best is yet to come" for the United States as he stormed to a second term by defeating Republican rival Mitt Romney.
