2 killed, 14 injured in high-intensity blast in Karachi

rangers were killed while 14, including civilians, were injured in a high-intensity suicide bomb blast at the Rangers Headquarters in North Nazimabad area of Karachi early on Thursday.

Reports said a truck rammed into one of the walls of the Rangers building and exploded. The blast was heard in far-off areas and created a panic among the citizens. Walls and windows of nearby buildings were also affected besides the Rangers building in the strong blast. A fire was still being put out when the last reports came in.

Karachi Police said the suicide attack appeared to target residences of the rangers.

The injured persons were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It was reported that four among the injured were in a critical condition.

The area was cordoned off by security forces while a probe was underway.
