Suicide: Cognizant employee's husband arrested in Chennai

The techie's family members filed a dowry harassment case against her husband who earlier had claimed that his wife was under depression as they did not have a child even fourteen months after wedding.

Police officials were quoted as saying, "her parents have not told what was the exact demand by him or his family, but they say dowry harassment must have pushed her to commit suicide."

"...we will soon alter the case and there will be a revenue sub-divisional officer (RDO) probe too as this suicide has happened within seven years of marriage," added the cops.

The woman jumped from the sixth floor of her office - Cognizant Technology Solutions at Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ). According to sources, the woman entered into the office premises late night as she wanted to apply for leave.

The deceased, who got married in 2011, and her husband reportedly had plans to visit her brother's place at the outskirt of Chennai.
