'Vedanta funded political parties in a transparent manner'

, Nov 2: Vedanta Group funded political parties during elections in a very transparent manner, Chairman Anil Agarwal has said. "Whatever we have done, it is in a transparent manner. There is none untouchable if it (funding) is permissible and legitimate. We do it in a very transparent manner," Agarwal told a private television channel replying to a question whether his company funded the Biju Janta Dal (

).

Agarwal said, "We are in a democratic society and it is legitimate to support democratic process." The Vedanta Group head, who had met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday, justified corporate donation to political parties saying all over the world, parties required funds when elections came.
