BSF to upgrade border posts to de-stress jawans

"These Border Out Posts (BOPs) will be equipped with several facilities which will not only protect jawans from the rigours of harsh weather but also protect them from any possible attack. But most importantly these facilities will help soldiers de-stress," DIG (BSF) RK Thapa said on Friday.
Giving utmost importance to the issue, the BSF has also included stress management workshop for the soldiers in its on-going frontier foundation day celebration week from Oct 29 to Nov 4. The new BOPs have been designed keeping in mind the comfort of jawans as they have to spend long hours at their outposts.
"They will have better accommodation, welfare, games and sports facilities. They have been designed so that they can hold their positions comfortably in these posts and if needed, can fight longer," Thapa said. BSF currently operates 231 BOPs on the 804-km long frontier border with Pakistan and it plans to come up with more BOPs to maintain 3 to 3.5 kms of distance between two outposts for better surveillance, Thapa said.
