Rahul Gandhi refuses to join UPA Cabinet, disappoints PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed his disappointment revealing that he had expected Rahul to join the cabinet.
The PM, however, claimed that Rahul refused to join cabinet as he wants to play a bigger role in Congress party. Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is yet to make any comment in public on the issue.
Rahul earlier had stated that Manmohan Singh and his mother Sonia Gandhi would decide his role in the government. However, after his decision of keeping himself away from the cabinet showed that the young Gandhi family scion is not ready yet to accept a bigger role in the government.
Sunday's cabinet reshuffle saw a series of promotions for younger Congressmen and commenting on the reshuffle, the PM said, "This cabinet reshuffle is mixture of youth and experience."
22 ministers including 17 new faces have sworn in on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhavan and sources believed that Rahul had played a major role in allocating berths to respective ministers. [Read: UPA Cabinet Reshuffle: Who is in and out; No role for Rahul]
