EU to maintain distance from Narendra Modi: German envoy

German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner said on Friday that his country will not change its stand on Modi, particularly ahead of the assembly poll in Gujarat. Steiner said they would not attempt to influence Modi's election campaign. Germany is a prominent nation in the EU.
He said the UK had asked the EU members before announcing its move to lift the ban on Modi but it was told that the EU's stand will not be affected by London's decision.
