96 child labourers rescued from Tamil Nadu spinning mill

District Collector Dr VK Shanmugam said Corporation Mayor Mallika Paramasivam informed the police on a tip off that child labourers were working in the mill at Karungalpalayam area. He said he headed a team, comprising labour welfare officials, doctors, police and Corporation officials in the raid and found the children working there. After their rescue, the children, hailing from Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Vellore and other parts of the state, were medically examined and their parents were told to come and collect them, he said.
He said district authorities would be asked to admit these children in schools in their areas. Police said a case has been registered against the mill owner and manager and have launched a search for them.
