Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 11: More trouble awaits popular fast food chain Kentucky's Fried Chicken (KFC) after they served chicken laced with worms to a patron in one of their outlets in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The customer who found worms in fried chicken, one of KFC's most popular dishes, is planning to file a complaint with the consumer affairs court and human rights commission.

"I am disappointed by the service they offered. To find worms in chicken from KFC was shocking. I have already talked to my advocate and will file a complaint," said Shiju Basheer, who was served worm-infested chicken in KFC.

Earlier, a complaint was lodged against the outlet. Based on the complaint filed against the outlet, the Food Safety Authority conducted an inspection and found that the outlet didn't maintain adequate sanitation guidelines.

After the inspection, chicken as much as five months old were found in the outlet. The outlet has been temporarily shut and other KFC outlets are being inspected.

"We came here after we received a complaint. We were told that worms were found in the chicken by the customer who informed us. When we inspected the place, we found worms in the fried chicken. This outlet has temporarily been shut down," Thiruvananthapuram district officer, Food Safety Authority, Sivakumar said.

KFC had issued a statement saying it is committed to serving the highest quality products to its customers across each of our restaurants.
