Top industrialist abducted in UP, Rs 2 crore ransom sought

Meerut, Oct 10: A top industrialist was abducted at gunpoint near Ganganagar police post here on Tuesday night. Top sources in the police said the abducted industrialist, Sudhir Mahajan, 55, is the director of cricket bat manufacturing company BDM. He was abducted along with his driver, Ravinder, while returning home from his factory located on Delhi road at around 1 am. Mahajan's car was stopped by armed criminals and it was later found abandoned in Mawana area.

The abductors also called up Mahajan's family for ransom. They sought Rs 2 crore as ransom through Mahajan's mobile phone. The police have launched a special operation to rescue Mahajan. They said to have found some clues and were hopeful to find Mahajan soon. Traders in Meerut have expressed concern over the kidnapping and said they would protest if the abducted businessman was not rescued.
