Supreme Court rejects Jaganmohan's bail plea

YS-Jaganmohan-Reddy
New Delhi, Oct 5: The Supreme Court of India rejected the bail plea of YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday, Oct 5. Jagan, son of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was arrested in May for alleged corruption.

The apex court said that it couldn't grant bail to Jagan at this moment. The YSR chief, who was arrested prior to the all-important Andhra by-polls, is currently lodged at Chanchalguda central prison in Hyderabad under the CBI's judicial custody. The central investigative body was probing him and others in an alleged corruption case during the reign of YSR Reddy, who was killed in a chopper crash three years ago.

The CBI, which opposed Jagan's bail, said the alleged money laundering processes carried out by the latter's network of companies were being scrutinised and more time was needed to probe the entire case. On Thursday, the enforcement directorate issued attachment orders on property worth Rs 51 crore in its money-laundering investigation against Jagan and others involved in the corruption.
