Cauvery row: Karnataka Bandh on Oct 6th, Protest on 5th

KRS Dam
Bangalore, Oct 4: Various organisations on Wednesday exhorted people in Karnataka to actively participate in the ongoing agitation against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, even as they extended support to the Oct 6 Karnataka bandh.

Rashtriya Kisan Sangha Karnataka committee President P Rama Reddy said the Cauvery River Authority's directive to release 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu every day was a great blunder. He was addressing a press conference in Bangalore.

Although, pro-Kannada organisations had planned for a strike on Saturday, Oct 6, some groups are planning to keep the city shut on Oct 5, Friday.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) is working towards bringing the city to a halt on Friday over the Cauvery row. KRV President T Narayana Gowda said 25,000-30,000 members of the organisation would gather for a rally in the city on Friday and ensure that bandh is a success.
