Farmer injured as Pak soldiers fire on civilians in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 1: At least one person was injured when Pakistani soldiers fired on unarmed civilians in the Samba sector of Jammu today.

The Border Security Force described the "unprovoked" firing as a ceasefire violation. A farmer who was working near the border fence in the evening was hurt by the small arms fire. BSF personnel shifted him to a nearby hospital.

Incidentally, a tunnel leading to Pakistan was discovered in the same area some weeks ago. The BSF believes that militants dug the tunnel to sneak into India.

It is suspected that Pakistani soldiers opened indiscriminate fire mainly to divert attention from an attempt at infiltration in another area.
