Kudankulam protest: Activists to lay siege to Tuticorin Port

The protest is spearheaded by People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) leader and activist SP Udayakumar and had announced the agitation plans two days ago after holding a meeting with community leaders in coastal villages of Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram.
Shipping Minister GK Vasan, concerned over the protestors attempt to hamper operations in the VOC Port, appealed to them to give up the stir. In a statement released by PMANE on Friday, the activists demanded that the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) stop the fuelling process immediately. Vasan also urged the Tamil Nadu government to take necessary steps to contain the protest so as to avoid any impact on the region's import export trade.
