FDI in retail: BJP threatens to intensify stir

"The Centre will have to withdraw its decision on FDI, failing which the country will witness more aggressive agitation and protests," BJP national general secretary and MLA Kiran Maheshwari told reporters here.
Terming the recent decisions of UPA to hike the diesel price, permit FDI in retail and limit the subsidised cooking gas cylinder as "anti-people", she said policies which are against the common man would not be tolerated. The response to the Bharat Bandh called by NDA reflects that people are strongly against the policies of UPA government, she said.
The FDI in retail is aimed at benefiting few people, she said, adding that it will ruin the retailers and transporters across the country. Replying to a question on coal blocks allocation, she said, "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should accept his responsibility on the issue and resign from the post."
People in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir extended their support to the bandh, BJP state chief Shamsher Singh Manhas said.
