Bharat Bandh: BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad held, Bihar tense

Bharat Bandh called by BJP-led NDA against FDI in multi-brand retail and diesel price hike disrupted normal life across the state. JD(U) workers and BJP supporters blocked rail tracks and stopped train movements at several places.
Mr Prasad was leading a protest march in the state capital shouting slogans against Manmohan Singh's UPA government who had overruled all demands for rollback of FDI in multi-brand retail and diesel price hike.
Buses and autorickshaws were kept off the roads. Security has been beefed up in the state. Policemen were deployed at different parts of Patna and other cities in Bihar.
Reports of violence surfaced from West Bengal where two groups led by Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP were engaged in a clash on Thursday. Rail services were disrupted in Varanasi and other parts in Uttar Pradesh.
