Mamata among 50 most influential people in finance

Kolkata, Sept 7: The

magazine has included

Chief Minister

in the list of 50 most influential people in the world in terms of finance. According to the magazine, Banerjee's party

successfully stalled Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's economic reform agenda by disallowing FDI in retail. She also toppled the 34-year-rule of the communists in West Bengal last year. Banerjee has been ranked 21 by the magazine in its October issue.

In his reaction, Trinamool's Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien said the magazine's listing proved that Banerjee was successful in taking the common man's issue to the global level.

The list also includes two persons of Indian origin, namely, co-CEO of Deutsche Bank Anshu Jain and noted US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara. Among foreigners, the list includes US business magnate Warren Buffet, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg, Hyundai chairman Chung Mong Koo and America Movil chairman Carlos Slim.

The Trinamool chief featured in the list of policy-makers along with Ben S Bernanke, US Federal Reserve chairman; Mario Draghi, European Central Bank president and Aung San Suu Kyi, the Myanmar opposition leader.

The magazine said the selection was made on the basis of a leader's ability to influence make, shape ideas and policies or impact structure of a deal.
