Air Force choppers in mid-air collision in Guj, 6 dead

Jamnagar (Guj), Aug 30: Two

choppers - Mi-17s were involved in a mid-air collision near Jamnagar in Gujarat. Initial reports suggest that 6 AIF personnel died in the crash.

Reports suggest that the collision might have occurred as the choppers were flying dangerously close to each other. Following the incident, both copters crashed down in a big fireball after their fans collided with each other. The choppers were on training sortie when the fatal crash occurred. Senior Air Force officials have rushed to the spot.

The bodies are yet to be extracted from the choppers. The fire has been extinguished. More details on the exact reason of the accident will be ascertained once the black box is recovered from the mangled remains of the air force chopper.
