Mum police commr Arup Patnaik axed, Satyapal Singh appointed

Mumbai, Aug 23: Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik, who was facing flak over the Aug 11 Azad Maidan violence in the city, has been transferred, Home Minister

said here today.

Patnaik has been promoted as Director General and posted as Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), Patil told PTI.

Senior IPS officer Satyapal Singh has been appointed as the new Mumbai Commissioner of Police, the minister said.
