New Delhi, Aug 20: With India witnessing one of the biggest internal mass exodus of North East people to their respective states in recent times, the root of the problem has quite expectedly traced to Pakistan. The matter was reported to have been communicated by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to his Pakistan counterpart Rehman Malik.

Shinde is understood to have said that certain elements in Pakistan were spreading malicious content through social networking sites triggering communal strife in India. Malik, in his usual response on issues of such nature, said that India has not given any evidence to prove any Pakistan-based group's involvement in this regard and was ready to probe the same if any evidence is provided.

Speaking on this, Malik has been quoted as saying, "The Indian minister has said that rumours were generated from Pakistan through cellular services. I had requested him (Shinde) to provide evidence in this regard to us and we will take care of it."

According to the statement given out by the Union Home Secretary, a Pakistan based hardline group is understood to be responsible on doctoring images and spreading them in India through social networking sites with an intent to whip up communal tension especially among people from the North East.

The exodus of people living in the region has subsided with all states doing all they can to regain the confidence of the North Easterners who are leaving the states in hoards.
