Bangalore, Aug 18: With the North East exodus still continuing unabated, the respective states who are dealing with the fear psychosis that has spread the people from the North East are doing all they can to instill confidence in these people.

The origin of the SMS and the emails that is regarded as the primary cause of spreading terror and fear among them is yet to be ascertained. The Bangalore police have made 5 arrests in this regard and investigations are on to find the motive behind such SMSs.

A senior police official has been quoted as saying that the SMSs carrying inflammable contents that created panic among people from the northeast, resulting in their exodus from Bangalore, purportedly came from outside the State.

An official stated to a popular English newspaper, "This is not locally generated and has origins elsewhere, which came with a political agenda." According to them, the so-called threat SMSs were interpolated in Karnataka with local content.

Officials stated that such SMSs were in circulation since last 10 days and the police were aware of the fact since Aug 12. They added, "We also had inputs from our own sources that there could be attacks after Aug 20."

The officials are still grappling with the origin of the messages since they were sent in bulk and came through multiple service providers.
