Marital problems led to Neelima's death? Friend grilled

are waiting for the post-mortem and forensic reports to arrive at a conclusion on her death. However, the cops on Friday, Aug 10 stated that marital problems might be the reason which compelled Neelima to end her life.

During their investigation into the death case, police cracked Neelima's emails. They also checked the SMSes sent and received by Neelima through her mobile.

Police official, who is a part of the investigating team, has been quoted as saying, "After the scrutiny of emails and questioning her husband, we suspect that Neelima may have ended her life due to marital problems."

According to the officials, Neelima was upset with her husband Suresh for whom she allegedly had borrowed Rs 25 lakh from her colleagues in US. However, Suresh reported to have lost most of the money and could not set up his business.

Suresh was a distant relative of Neelima. The duo fell in love with each other when Neelima came to Hyderabad for pursuing her engineering course. She joined Infosys in 2009 and married Suresh. Later, she was assigned a project in US and she left India. According to the cops, during this time Neelima and Suresh started facing problems in their relationship.

Neelima returned to India to spend three-week vacation with her family but she decided to stay with her mother and not with Suresh. The officials also said that on Jul 31, the fateful night when Neelima is believed to have committed suicide, she had sent an SMS to Suresh saying that she would end her life.

The officials said, "...when we questioned Suresh about the SMS, he said that he did not see the SMS. But, the reality is that he had deleted the SMS from his phone."

Meanwhile, police grilled Neelima's friend Prashant with whom she allegedly had spoken over the phone before taking the extreme step.

21-year-old Prashant overruled all speculations about his romantic relationship with 27-year-old Neelima. He informed that both of them became friends in US. They worked together in Infosys for one year and later he joined Cognizant. However, both of them returned to India together in a same flight.

Prashant informed the police that he spoke to Neelima thrice on Jul 31. She was sounding philosophic while saying that she could only meet him in the next life, stated Prashant. He also said that Neelima told him that she had some official work and thus she came to office around 8:30 pm. According to Prashant, Neelima told him that Suresh had dropped her to the office on bike.

However, police stated that Suresh did not drop Neelima as her emails proved that she was avoiding meeting with her husband who allegedly had forced her to choose between either going to his house in Kukatpally or letting him come to her KPHB house in Hyderabad.

Neelima's last mail, which was sent to Suresh, reads, "Your way of thinking is different from mine. I am paining you by being quiet. I am unable to adjust. I always wanted to live my life my own way. I like individuality and freedom. Your thoughts are entirely different. I am not trying to fault you. Mana Iddariki set avadu ra...I am very sorry."
