Air Hostess suicide: Most wanted Kanda in real trouble

Citing tremendous criticism for their slow investigation into the case, Delhi police on Thursday confirmed that they will arrest Kanda soon after tracking his whereabouts. Earlier, a court in the national capital rejected Kanda's anticipatory bail plea.
Kanda's lawyer KTS Tulsi argued before the court that "Nowhere has Geetika said in her note that Kanda instigated her to commit suicide."
"Here is a case of a hypersensitive girl as merely asking for signing some papers can't be even remotely taken as intentionally abetting suicide," added Tulsi.
Kanda went missing on Wednesday when he was summoned to appear before the investigators at police headquarters. The former minister asked to postpone his questioning date but the police rejected to accept Kanda's plea.
Kanda, who held Urban Bodies and Industry and Commerce portfolios, has been booked over abatement to suicide case. Earlier, police raided his residence and office premises but failed to trace him.
23-year-old Geetika Sharma, an ex-employee of MDLR airlines owned by Kanda, committed suicide on Sunday. She accused Kanda and another MDLR employee Aruna Chadha saying that those people compelled her to take the extreme step.
Geetika's brother earlier was quoted as saying, "When the airline's operation was suspended, Gopal Kanda offered her another job. She refused that offer and joined Emirates in Dubai. He then wrote a letter to Emirates stating that she had a bad character, which led to her termination."
Her family members also claimed that Geetika was close to Kanda and thus he gave more than Rs 7 lakh to her for pursuing an MBA course. Kanda had also allegedly gifted a BMW car to Geetika which she returned after using for a few days.
Kanda was earlier quoted as saying, "We gave her Rs 7.5 lakh for her studies and even made her chairman of the trust that runs my international school in Sirsa. I did not have any contact with her after that."
Recently, Geetika's family members released some photographs featuring Geetika and the former Haryana minister of state, urban local bodies, Gopal Kanda. Her family has so far claimed that Geetika was not just an employee for Kanda, but also shared a personal relationship with him.
Kanda denied all such allegations and asserted that he did not have any connection with Geetika. But the photographs proved that Kanda and Geetika had visited several places such as Shirdi, Mumbai together.
However, recent development in the suicide case cornered Kanda. Police on Wednesday arrested Aruna Chadha and Manpreet Singh. According to police sources, Manpreet allegedly had bought phone SIM cards on his name and gave those SIM cards to Kanda.
Kanda also had claimed that he did not speak to Geetika in the recent past and he even asked investigators to check his phone call details to verify his statements. But with the recent revelation in the case, police found that Kanda allegedly had harassed Geetika by calling her using those SIM cards which were given by Manpreet.
