J'khand outfit threatens acid attack on jeans-clad girls

Jharkhand
Ranchi, Aug 7: The sudden belligerence shown by a little-known outfit here that is apparently interested in moral policing has caught the police by surprise.

Jharkhand Mukti Sangh has warned girls and women against wearing jeans. It threatened that acid will be thrown on those who flout the above diktat.

The outfit has put up handwritten posters outside St Xavier's College, Albert Ekka roundabout and other places in the city. Each poster states: "From 20/8/2012 (Aug 20), jeans have been banned for girls. Any girl will be found wearing jeans and moving without dupatta will be attacked with acid."

The Jharkhand Mukti Sangh has also condemned the displacement of people in the name of industrialization. "Companies involved in land acquisition will be attacked," the outfit stressed.

The police are not sure if it is just the handiwork of some anti-social elements. "We have heard about this outfit for the first time. This can be a case of mischief. We are trying to trace the people involved," a police officer said.
