Chennai: Actor knocks down police, arrested
According to police sources, the actor fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle hitting a two wheeler which belonged to an Inspector, Anandan, a security officer for a High Court judge.
Sriranjan first hit the motor bike of the inspector who along with nephew had stopped the bike to talk to another person over phone. Traffic police claimed that the cop stopped his bike at the extreme end left of the Poonamallee High Road when the actor hit the vehicle and dragged it for a few feet around 8 am.
After the bike, the actor's car rammed into two more auto rickshaws which were standing side by side. Two auto rickshaw drivers were also severely injured, informed the traffic police.
While one of the auto drivers was injured at his limb and shoulder, another sustained injuries on his hip, neck and left shoulder. The four injured people were rushed to a near by hospital where they underwent treatment.
"He was returning from a film shoot and fell asleep. He sustained abrasions," said the police while informing about the actor who was arrested soon after the accident.
A case under IPC section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) has been registered against Sriranjan and his car has also been seized.
