Doctors advise Arvind Kejriwal, Gopal Rai to call off fast

New Delhi, Jul 31: Doctors today advised Team Anna members

and Gopal Rai to break their fast at Jantar Mantar as they were both weak but the former refused to get hospitalised.

Though he admitted to feeling the strain of the protest, Kejriwal quipped that his body is enough to scare off corrupt politicians. He stressed that the consequences will be bad if the government makes any attempt to admit Team Anna members to hospital after arresting them.

Kejriwal and his fellow activists have been on an indefinite fast since Jul 25 to press for a strong Lokpal. They have also demanded that a Special Investigation team be set up without further delay to probe corruption charges against 13 Union ministers and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Initially, it seemed that people had become disenchanted with Team Anna's frequent stirs but the crowd at the protest venue became bigger by last weekend when yoga guru Baba Ramdev visited Jantar Mantar.

Buoyed by this, a section of the anti-corruption activists yesterday attacked some reporters who had come to cover the fast. Later, Anna Hazare warned his supporters that the agitation will be stopped if they misbehave in future.
