Kashmir: 3 women killed as cylinder explodes on bus

Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, Jul 28: Three persons were killed and six injured when a cooking cylinder exploded inside a bus carrying domestic tourists at Bijbehara in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district today.

Earlier police officers had told reporters that some militants lobbed a powerful grenade and it exploded inside the bus, killing two women on the spot. However, this version of events was apparently wrong.

The tourists, all hailing from Mumbai, were proceeding to Pahalgam when the blast occurred. Six passengers sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. Of these, the condition of one is said to be critical.

Movement of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar highway was affected by the explosion. Incidentally, separatists had called for a total shutdown in Kashmir today.
