Congress, Digvijay differ over backing riots hit Assam CM?

TV channel reports claimed that Congress was upset with the CM as he allegedly failed to understand the gravity of the situation at the riots-hit state. Gogoi's visit to the violence hit region after five days brought stern criticism for him.
However, Congress officials have been supporting Gogoi since ethnic clashes between Bodos and Muslims broke out at Kokrajhar and other districts in the state.
Congress MP Rehman Khan, however, openly criticised Assam government while stating, "There is a failure somewhere, but violence is contained. And now the Chief Minister is visiting. The major problem is how to rehabilitate the people who have fled, how to infuse confidence in the people and take up the rehabilitation system and see they are moved to their places from the camps."
Contradictory to Khan's statement, Digvijay Singh had earlier praised Gogoi for tackling the situation in the state effectively. "Tarun Gogoi and the whole administration tried to control the situation immediately," said Singh before adding, "Tarun Gogoi's performance should not be judged by only one incident."
At least 44 people were killed while over 3 lakh people were misplaced taking shelter at various relief camps.
