Guwahati molestation: Main accused Amar Jyoti Kalita traced?

Bangalore, Jul 23: Amar Jyoti Kalita, main accused in the

molestation case, could be hiding near Kolkata. According to reports, he can be seen in the footage of a CCTV camera in Howrah. The recording dates back to Friday.

Kalita has been on the run for the past two weeks. On the night of Jul 9, he was among those who molested a young woman outside a bar in Guwahati. The incident was filmed by journalists of a local channel, News Live, and telecast on Jul 10.

The video was uploaded on YouTube too and went viral, triggering nationwide outrage. Gaurav Jyoti Neog, the reporter of News Live who instigated the molesters against the victim, had to resign after an RTI activist - Akhil Gogoi exposed his role.

Neog was arrested last week. He and Kalita are said to be friends. The channel's editor, Atanu Bhuyan also quit because his position had become untenable in view of the allegations that News Live had stage managed the whole thing to get high TRPs.

Assam police have already picked up 11 of the accused in the case but Kalita has managed to evade arrest so far.
